Spring 2015 Newsletter

Spring is finally here!  What a winter everyone has had, but let’s hope we’ve rounded the corner to spring and better things…

Gallery news:
I’ve begun a new affiliation with Collector’s Café and Gallery in Myrtle Beach, SC.  They have beautiful food and yummy art, and I’m very glad to have work on display in their cool and arty space.  If you go, please check out my new paintings on the walls of the gallery and let them know you enjoy them (or better yet, I’ll sign the painting for you personally after you purchase them!)

Here’s my current class schedule:
Watercolor Wednesdays 1-4 PM
Various topics in Watercolor will be presented.  Bring your current project or let me help inspire a new project for you.  I have lots of reference photos, paintings and drawings you can use as inspiration.  This is a popular class with limited seating, so make your reservation in advance.  All skill levels welcome. $25 Materials available $5

Beginning Thursday Mar. 5, 2015
Abstract Afternoons/Open Studio 1-4 PM- Exp!ore Abstract painting in it’s various forms.  Have a painting you’d like to emulate?  I can help.  Need ideas for different approaches or access to new materials?  I probably have them.  Would you like a project idea or helpful critique?   This may be the class for you. Thursday afternoons will be a space for exploration of design and various techniques for creating successful abstracts.  If you wish to bring projects from other classes or workshops, you may also use this time as open studio.  Advance reservations required.   $25 Materials available $5

For those of you interested in Travel…Join me for my upcoming

EAT, PAINT, COOK TOUR OF TUSCANY Oct. 3-10, 2015.
Also announcing another trip next year:  Sept. 24-Oct. 1, 2016!
NOTE- PAINTING AND COOKING ARE OPTIONAL- Good eating is guaranteed!

Eat Paint Cook Tour of Tuscany:  After an incredibly fun experience this year, I will return to Chianti in Tuscany, Italy for another tour of this beautiful region.  After many visits, I know just where to take you and what to do when we get there!  Think of it as a Tuscan cruise without the water…Cooking lessons and on-site massage are available during the week.   Our chef is comical and not at all fussy.  A self-described “Man from Chianti”, he loves having us come into the kitchen and cook with him for a couple of hours.  He also makes sure we eat fresh organic Italian meals every day.  If you want to paint or photograph, we have a studio, and I have reference photos and pre-sketched images of our destinations…experience or talent are not required!  Painting on this trip is by no means a requirement (but it might be fun to try!) Workshop title: MAKING COLOR SING

Description: A wonderful world of color awaits you in a Rose Edin workshop. She emphasizes the use of color harmonies to create brilliant paintings. Pure color is often used in layers to create special effects. She also utilizes and teaches the use of liquid mask, stencils and the actual tracing around shapes of flowers and leaves. Other techniques, such as painting wet into wet, and pouring and spattering paint directly on the paper, are designed to "loosen up" the painter and bring freedom and spontaneity to the painting. You will be amazed at your progress and the fun you will have in the process!

Subject matter may include florals, landscapes, buildings in a setting or figures incorporated into the painting. Rose chooses new subject matter for each painting and each workshop. She learns with her students the possibilities within each subject.

Rose Edin holds signature membership in the American Watercolor Society (AWS), the National Watercolor Society (NWS), and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America (TWSA).  Rose has been awarded "Master" status in the TWSA. She has received two distinct awards in The American Watercolor Society, First place in the animal/wildlife division of The Artist Magazine's annual international art competition, invited to exhibit in the Shanghai Invitational Watercolor Exhibition, has had a painting in the book, Splash and has had her work on the cover as well as two major articles in the French magazine: the Art of Watercolour - 2013 and 2014.  Most importantly, she is known as a fabulous demonstrator and teacher
